ECO CONTRACTING SERVICES is owned and operated in Stony plain, Alberta.

We evolved from humble beginnings in 1992 as a maintenance firm to a diverse and solutions oriented contractor today. Our innovative solutions to challenges earned us the reputation as a "CAN DO" contractor.

As our name implies we prefer to work with natural products and common sense solutions. This is especially relevant to erosion control and shoreline restoration where we blend modern products and technology with natural elements.

Our shoreline reconstruction methods have actually been considered a model for proper stabilization. These are typically expensive projects and do it yourself solutions generally lead to future failure and a duplication or increase in costs.

SHORELINE RESTORATION

Shoreline erosion typically is the result of extreme water flow exposure and or poor sub soil structure.

This is corrected by reconstruction from the base up. The use of Geo textiles, structural retaining walls, aggregates, boulders and vegetation are the principle building blocks in reconstruction. Often the deterioration will be gradual and periodically there will be a complete collapse. The latter is often more costly and brings forth a sense of urgency.

Any reconstruction involving lakes, streams, and or rivers, requires permit approvals from the Federal and Provincial governments, including those crossing private lands. Failure to receive proper permits and approval can result in a stop work order, high fines, and any restoration costs deemed required by the agency.

Shoreline Projects

Wabamun Lake in Alberta had many property owners dealing with extreme shoreline erosion damage and LOSS.

We reconstructed and reclaimed these properties within the approved permits and provided a boulder shield with geo textiles for further stability and strength. We reconstructed 7 PROPERTIES during the 10 week permit period, totaling over 1000 L /Ft of shoreline and 2800 metric tonnes of material and installation. We had no safety, containment, environmental, municipal or permit issues during the project periods.

Erosion and destabilization is usually brought on by changes in water tables or flows, and or by re-development or changes to the landscape. Sometimes measures are undertaken to control erosion until vegetation can take hold and stabilize the area.

n other cases, complete reconstruction must be undertaken to avoid a collapse. Soil erosion is a natural process and often the solutions are based in natural products. Water must always be given respect and guided to flow where we want it to go. 90% of all water related issues are due to improper grading, property modifications, or poor installations. Erosion issues never resolve themselves and cost more to repair the longer they are ignored.
